Prof. Dauda Bawa

Specialist in Rural Development and Agricultural Technology

Dauda Bitrus Bawa is a Professor of Agricultural Extension and currently serves as the Head of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension at the University of Jos. He specializes in Rural Development and Agricultural Technology Adoption. Professor Bawa began his academic career in January 2006 as an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension at the University of Maiduguri, where he advanced to the rank of Senior Lecturer by 2011. In April 2014, he transferred his service to the University of Jos.

Professor Bawa holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture with a specialization in Agricultural Economics and Extension, which he obtained from the University of Maiduguri in 1996. He also earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Agricultural Extension from the same institution in 2004 and 2011, respectively.

As a leading figure in his field, Professor Bawa has made significant contributions to research and academia, with over 40 scientific publications. He is a member of various professional organizations and has received several accolades, including the Innovators of Tomorrow Grant from the World Bank/Project in 2010 and being named a Fellow of the Cochran Fellowship Program by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service in 2022. His research interests primarily focus on enhancing agricultural practices and improving rural livelihoods through effective technology adoption and extension services.
